Interesting Facts: Cinnamon Leaves contain eugenol and are sometimes used as a substitute for cloves. (Eugenol is the major aromatic chemical component of cloves.) Cinnamon leaves may serve as a substitute for Indian bay leaves.Cinnamomum zeylanicum originates from the island Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon), southeast of India. It is also native to south-west India and the Tenasserim Hills of Burma. Several attempts have been made to transplant cinnamon trees to other parts of the tropic world, but they have become naturalized only on the Seychelles. This particular cinnamon, known as sweet cinnamon, also known as Ceylong cinnamon, was occasionally mistake for aromatic cassia (Cinnamomum cassia), owing to its similar aroma. In the preparation of kyphi, the sacred perfume of the Egyptians, these two types of cinnamon are combined as they are in holy unction of the Hebrews, in the instructions given by the Lord to Moses (Exodus 30, 23-24).
Medicinal Use: Cinnamon bark essential oil assists circulation, lowers glucose, and strengthens the heart, endocrine, and nervous systems. Cinnamon bark essential oil is an immuno-stimulant, anti-infectious, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal. Cinnamon bark essential oil helps with typhoid, tropical infections, and vaginitis (use extremely diluted). Cinnamon bark essential oil is also anti-viral, anti-parasite, and a general sexual stimulant. Cinnamon bark essential oil helps with flu, rheumatism, warts, coughs, colds, and is a general all around maintenance oil (hot oil, use small amounts diluted). Cinnamon bark essential oil is a powerful purifier and enhances the action and activity of other oils. Cinnamon bark essential oil has been found that viruses, bacteria, and fungus cannot live in this oil.
Cinnamon Bark essential oil is anti-clot, and can be useful to prevent menstrual clots, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) that can develop on extended airline flights, stroke, or heart attack.
Cinnamon Bark essential oil increases the body's (TNF) Tumor Necrosis Factor an immune system chemical that fights cancer. Cinnamon Bark essential oil has been shown in the lab to stop the growth of liver cancer and melanoma.
Cinnamon Bark essential oil has been shown in the lab to kill Aspergillus Niger the cause of Aspergillosis or chronic fungal infection; usually residing in the lungs and sinuses. Aspergillosis can be extremely dangerous or even fatal.
