Interesting Facts: Because of elemi's drying and conserving properties, Elemi was one of the aromatics used by the ancient Egyptians for embalming their dead. Elemi has been used for centuries as a fixative and fragrance component, for example in soaps, detergents, perfumes, cosmetics. From the same botanical family as Frankincense and Myrrh. Elemi is used in making varnishes and inks.

Use: Elemi essential oil is an analgesic, antiviral, antiseptic, antiamebic, fungicidal, general regulatory tonic (fortifying), and stimulant (stomachic, glandular). Elemi essential oil is beneficial for aged skin, infected cuts and wounds, inflammation, chronic conditions, fungal growths, cooling and drying, gangrene conditions, various ulcers, rejuvenation, wrinkles, bronchitis, catarrhal conditions, and coughs. Elemi essential oil eases congestion and controls excess mucus. Elemi essential oil strengthens immune system, particularly at the start of an illness, and generally fortifies the body. Elemi essential oil helps with diarrhea, ulcers, spasmodic intestinal colitis, and amoebic infections. Elemi essential oil stimulates thymus gland and helps against nervous exhaustion and stress.

Constituents: Phellandrene, dipentene, elemol, elemicin, terpineol, carvone, terpinolene.
