Each of the essential oils used in Aromatherapy can be used either alone or in combinations to create a desired effect. Before using essential oils as part of an Aromatherapy treatment, it is important to understand the effect that the oil (s) have, and how it works.

The oils are found in different parts of the plant such as the flowers, twigs, leaves and bark, or in the rind of fruit. For example, in roses it is found in the flowers, in basil it is in the leaves, in sandalwood in the wood, and so on.

The methods used to extract the oil are time consuming and expensive and require a high degree of expertise. Given that it takes in excess of 220 pounds of rose petals to produce only 4 or 5 teaspoonfuls of oil, it is a process probably best left to professionals! Due to the large quantity of plant material required, pure essential oils are expensive, but they are also highly effective - only a few drops at a time are required to achieve the desired effect.

Synthetic oils are available at a lesser price, but they simply do not have the healing power of the natural oils. They can also be very dangerous as the chemicals used to  create them will also be absorbed into your body! The same is true of any non -Organic Essential Oil, due to the fact that the pesticides are also concentrated during the distillation process.

Gas Chromatograph testing provides ultimate proof.  We supply our gas chromatograph results and our organic certification to anyone, just ask! I know of no other company that holds themselves to such high accountability.  For example, Young Living Essential Oils oregano that we had tested was around 40% carvacrol (the constituent that makes up the highest amount in Oregano) and Bella Mira Oregano was 83.1%.  The higher carvacrol content makes the oil stronger and therefore “better”.  You will have to be careful with our oregano since it is quite a bit stronger. We hear back all the time that customers use ½ to ¼ as much oil as they used to use and still get better results.

  We work with small farms that grow the plants right (organically) and then distill them properly (low temperature and no/low pressure).  A plant grown in the “proper” part of the world will produce superior quality oil.  Just look back to our answer on question one and you can see that our wild oregano from Turkey is far superior to what is being grown else ware.  Now despite the marketing hype that any company grows all their own oils –is simply not true.  Simply asked their customer service department where each of their oils come from.  If they try to say that they grow all the plants simply ask, “Where are your Myrrh trees grown?”  Since Myrrh trees take a generation to produce good oil and they only grow in the Mediterranean.  No company can not be growing their own Myrrh trees since they don't have a farm in the Mediterranean and no company has not been in business for that long.  

Yes – 99% of Bella Mira Essential oils are either Certified Organic (we have the certification on file), Organically Grown (grown organically but not certified), or Wild Crafted  (grown by nature with out pesticides or herbicides).  The select few that are not this way are due to chemical fertilizers.  These few will be replaced once a high quality cost effective replacement can be grown.

This is very important because the process of distilling would concentrate any pesticides!
