Hyssop Oil

Bella Mira Essential Oil : Hyssop Essential Oil

Country Of Origin: Spain

Certification: Wild Crafted

Classification: Hyssop Decumbens Essential Oil

Found in Blends: Heart of Life, Immune Strength, Gabriel, Balance, and Humble Spirit

Interesting Facts: Hyssop Decumbens does not contain any potentially toxic ketones found in common hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis). Hyssop Decumbens is from the same family as Melissa (Lemon Balm). The Greek plant name hyssopos [ὕσσωπος] is probably derived from Old Hebrew esob [אזוב] , although esob most probably referred to a local variety of marjoram, not the plant called hyssop today. It can, however, be used for robust, rustic dishes like potato or bean soup, and it goes well with fat meat; others suggest hyssop to spice up calf and chicken, where hyssop may be an interesting alternative to sage, whom hyssop resembles in its slight bitterness, but not in fragrance. The name hyssop can be traced back almost unchanged through the Greek hyssopos and Hebrew esob, although it is doubtful that Hyssopus officinalis is the same hyssop that is referred to in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, a sponge soaked in sour wine or vinegar was stuck on a branch of hyssop and offered to Jesus of Nazareth on the cross (John 19:29), showing that the cross was not as high as sometimes portrayed.

Use: Hyssop essential oil strengthens the lungs, benefits poor vitality, breathlessness, and immune deficiency. Hyssop essential oil helps to prevent colds and flu and works to fight infection. Hyssop essential oil stimulates and warms the digestion and may be used for appetite loss, slow digestion and abdominal bloating. Hyssop essential oil is effect on the nervous system and mind is a distinctly invigorating one. Other Hyssop essential oil benefits are to discharge toxins, clear lungs, open up the respiratory system, and normalizing blood pressure. Hyssop essential oil benefits bronchitis, colic, fatigue, colds, dermatitis, bruises, gout, nervous tension, arthritis, anti-inflammatory of the pulmonary, rheumatism, sore throat, stimulates and decongests liver, hepatitis, intestinal parasites, cystitis, aids nervous depression, anxiety, and regulating lipid metabolism.
