Homemade Natural Disinfectants Print A Copy and Email To Friends! 5-27-08

Here are handy recipes that will save your wallet, health, planet and time!

Most natural cleaning products while expensive work well. However, many companies including Clorox are moving in to the field and you cant really trust green cleaners to be safe, green, or organic anymore. With labeling requirement all ingredients do not have to be listed so they can get away with alot. Very dangerous chemicals can be hidden in words like fragrance, de-foamer, surfactant, de-greaser, etc.. So keep this list handy, post it on the fridge and share with all your health conscious friends. If you have any to add email them to us and well post them after we try them!

Hand Sanitizer: alcohol, while effective is to drying and there are dangers to children.

Recipe 1: Use Silver Biotics ASAP Gel as you would any other instant sanitizer! Use the large size to refill your small bottles. Add your 2 -5 drops off your favorite essential oil to the small bottles to make it scented.

Recipe 2: Also use organic aloe vera gel and add 20 drops essential oil to 4 oz  aloe vera gel to make a wonderful instant hand sanitizer. Use essential oils like:  nightingale, marauder, tea tree, Niaouli, peppermint, lavender, or your favorite antibacterial oil.

Disinfectant Spray 16 oz bottle:

Recipe 1: 4oz white or apple cider vinegar fill the rest with distilled water add 10 drops of nightingale, marauder, tea tree, Niaouli, peppermint, lavender, or your favorite antibacterial oil.

Recipe 2: 4oz Silver Biotics, fill the rest with distilled water add 10 drops of neroli, tea tree, peppermint, lavender, or your favorite essential oil blend.

Recipe 3: 4oz 3% Peroxide, fill the rest with distilled water add 10 drops of neroli, tea tree, peppermint, lavender, or your favorite essential oil blend. This should only be used on counters or other nonporous material. This is a very good one to use when mold is present.

Disinfectant Wipes:

Buy one small tub of Huggies Natural (Green Bag) to refill and 1 roll recycled paper towels. Rinse well the wipes in water the first time you use them from then on fill with towels! To use the paper towels just cu the squares in 3rds or whatever way best fits your container! You can also buy any other unscented, no propylene glycol, no parabens brands and rinse then use!

Recipe 1: Fill bottom of tub about 1 inch water add 20 drops purifying, marauder or nightingale essential oils add rinsed and somewhat wrung out wipes back in, close and turn upside down for an hour!

Recipe 2: Fill bottom of tub about 1/2 inch water and 1/2 inch vinegar add oils if you wish

Daily Shower Spray/ Disinfectant:

Recipe 1: 4oz white or apple cider vinegar fill the rest with distilled water add 10 drops of nightingale, marauder, tea tree, Niaouli, peppermint, lavender, or your favorite antibacterial oil.

Recipe 2: 4oz 3% Peroxide, fill the rest with distilled water add 10 drops of neroli, tea tree, peppermint, lavender, or your favorite essential oil blend. This should only be used on counters or other nonporous material. This is a very good one to use when mold is present.

Disinfectant Toilet Bowl Cleaner:

Recipe 1:  Dump 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar allow to sit for 30 mins then clean as usual

Recipe 2: Dump 1 cup borax 5 drops nightingale, marauder, tea tree, Niaouli, peppermint, lavender, or your favorite antibacterial oil, scrub as usual.

Disposal Disinfectant:

Recipe 1: drop 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar allow to sit 1/2-1 hour and flush with a little boiling water. This also clear drains.

Recipe 2: Drop 1 lemon quartered, fallowed by 4 ice cubes, then rinse with 1 cup vinegar.
