Firefox browser users tend to use latest version 7-7-08

Many food consumers may not be aware of the war of web browsers. A new study shows that Firefox users are more likely to use the latest version than all users of all other browsers.

Latest versions often offer better security, meaning that users of Firefox have better security. Overall, about 60 percent of web surfers use the latest, up to date versions of their web browsers.

Among the users of Firefox, up to 83 percent were found using the latest version compared to 65 percent for Apple's Safari users, 53 percent for Opera users and only 48 percent for Microsoft Internet Explorer users.

However, Internet explorer browser attacks 1.1 billion users or 78 percent of the total market shares, compared to 227 million for Firefox or 16 percent, 48 million or 3.4 percent for Safari and 11 million or 0.8 percent for Opera.

The study was reportedly conducted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in collaboration with IBM and Google between Jan. 2007 and June 2008.

A latest release of Firefox was said to have boosted Firefox's share in the browser market to 19 percent, media reports.
