Have you ever heard this little riddle “Beans, Beans the American fruit the more you eat the more you toot, the more you toot the better you feel, let’s have beans for every meal!!!”  This riddle is a fun but very true old saying.  It never fails that after eating beans you will be fully loaded and everybody better stay clear of you and your deadly gas.  If you would like an easy but effective way of preventing bean gas than this is the article for you.

I have always loved my mothers ham and bean soup but the feeling I was always left with for hours after effected my feeling toward the soup.  I enjoyed the taste of beans soup so much that I could eat it several times a week but since I hated the feeling it left me with I quit making it.  Then one day I learned about a simple and easy way to eliminate that gassy feeling that you have after eating beans.  I never knew something so easy and simple would work so effectively.

If you would like to enjoy your beans without the after effects of gas then try this simple step the night before cooking your beans.  All you need is water, apple cider vinegar and the beans in which you intend to cook.  Take a mixture of water and apple cider vinegar; the amount would greatly depend on the amount of beans that you are intending to cook.  Next you will need to soak the beans in the mixture the night before.  After soaking the beans in this mixture the night before drain the water and rinse the beans thoroughly.

This simple step is a very easy and effective way of reducing or ultimately eliminating the gassy after effect that beans have on you or your dinner guest.  Both you and your guest will be amazed by the effectiveness of this trouble-free way of handling the beans.  You will start making beans every day once you have discovered this way of getting rid of all the gas that is caused by beans.

Many people have stayed away from beans because of the discomfort and embarrassing feeling that beans leave you with long after they have bean eaten and gone.  Beans are very healthy and have loads of fiber so choosing beans more often is a very healthy choice to make.

The method of soaking your beans in water and apple cider vinegar can be used on several different types of beans.  The water and apple cider vinegar mixture can be used for beans such as baby lima beans, black eyed beans, lintels, split pea and garbanzo beans to name just a few types.

This is how I make my ham and bean soup.  The night before I soak a bag of baby lima beans in about three cups of water mixed with about a fourth of a cup of apple cider vinegar (these measurements will greatly depend on the amount of beans that you intend to cook.  The next day after soaking for hours the beans should be removed from the refrigerator, drained and rinsed off thoroughly.  I then boil my ham for an hour or more (by adding a ham bone will give your soup a great flavor).  After the ham has boiled I then add the baby lima beans to the ham flavored water.  The beans take less time to cook since we have soaked them in the water and apple cider vinegar mixture the night before.  After the beans have cooked add a little milk and butter to the soup this will add a little color and flavor to the soup broth.  Dough balls also can be added to the bean soup for a delicious tasting soup.  The dough balls can be made by mixing eggs, flours and salt together then dropping them by little rounded teaspoons into the boiling soup.

Try this soup and you will also agree that it is a great tasting soup.  Using the water and apple cider vinegar mixture you can start to enjoy any of your favorite beans or as the old riddle goes “the American Fruit” without all the gassy tooting.
