Interesting Facts: Rose essential oil has an extraordinarily complex chemistry, with over 300 known constituents. Rose essential oil enhances the frequency of every cell, bringing balance and harmony to the body. Despite the presence of the thorns, roses are frequently eaten by deer. This is one of the original old world roses that most modern roses came from. It only blooms once a year; hence the great expense. The weight of essential oil extracted is about one three-thousandth to one six-thousandth of the weight of the flowers - for example, about 2,000 flowers are required to produce one gram of oil. Roses are ancient symbols of love and beauty. The rose was sacred to a number of goddesses, and is often used as a symbol of the Virgin Mary. Rose essential oil is beneficial for chronic and bronchial asthma, hay fever, sore throats, sedative for contusions and sprains, poor circulation, palpitations, lowers high blood pressure, arrhythmia, cardiotonic and lowers level of cholesterol. Rose essential oil assists mouth ulcers, mouth infections, gingivitis, inflamed gallbladder, liver congestion, bile stimulant, hangovers, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, aids gastro-intestinal ulcers, immune stimulant, diphtheria, urinary infections, aids irregular menstruation, period pain, aids psychological impotence, frigidity, sterility, sexual weakness in males and females (with Vitamin A).
